Société Générale has appointed Anoop Chaudhry as head of industry group, power, utilities and infrastructure, Asia-Pacific, effective immediately.

Based in Hong Kong, Chaudhry reports regionally to Stephanie Clement de Givry, head of global banking and advisory for Asia-Pacific, and functionally to Carl Bassili and Bruno Magnouat, global co-heads of investment banking.

In this new role within the investment banking division of global banking and advisory, Chaudhry is responsible for originating and executing investment banking activities across the power, utilities and infrastructure sectors in Asia-Pacific, including mergers and acquisitions, equity capital markets, equity private placements, and other investment banking financing solutions, while enhancing the firm’s strategic dialogue with key clients in these sectors.

Global banking and advisory is part of the firm’s global banking and investor solutions division, combining advisory, capital markets and financing services.

Société Générale boasts a longstanding and proven track record of delivering advisory and financing solutions to clients active in the power, utilities and infrastructure sectors across Greater China, Singapore, India, Australia, South Korea, and Japan.

“By strengthening our investment banking capabilities across the Asia-Pacific region through the establishment of dedicated industry groups spanning a diverse range of sectors, we are better positioned to support our clients in navigating market opportunities in an increasingly dynamic and evolving business landscape,” De Givry says.

Chaudhry brings over 25 years of experience in infrastructure banking across various international financial institutions in Asia-Pacific.

Prior to joining Société Générale, Chaudhry had been the Asia-Pacific head of greentech, industrials and infrastructure at Nomura since 2018. Before that, he spent eight years at Barclays as the Asia-Pacific head of power, utilities and infrastructure. Earlier in his career, he held several strategic positions in power and utilities banking, including roles at Merrill Lynch, Lehman Brothers, and Credit Suisse.
