UK lender Barclays has appointed Wee Yee-Yeong as its head of private bank Singapore and head of private bank Asia.

Based in Singapore, he will lead the business in Singapore and drive a market-led approach for the region, working closely with the wider private banking distribution teams serving international Asian clients.

He will succeed Alexander Harrison in his capacity as interim head of private bank Singapore. The lender’s private banking business in India will remain under the leadership of Adrish Ghosh, who will continue to report directly to Annabelle Bryde, head of private bank international.

Wee, who will join the bank later this year, arrives from Morgan Stanley, where he is currently chief executive and head of sales for the firm’s Singapore wealth management business.

He brings more than two decades of experience building wealth management franchises, leading teams and advising ultra-high-net-worth ( UHNW ) clients across Asia-Pacific. He has previously held senior leadership and client coverage roles at Bank of Singapore, Credit Suisse, Goldman Sachs, UBS Wealth Management and Merrill Lynch.

Throughout his career, Wee, the bank points out, has built a strong track record and extensive experience serving internationally mobile entrepreneurs, wealth creators and family offices across the region. His expertise will support Barclays in deepening relationships with clients seeking access to international wealth corridors and those with banking, investment and financing needs spanning multiple markets.
